Marker is a reading and annotation browser. Your highlights, notes, bookmarks, and history stay on your device. Marker does not operate a backend server, collect personal data, or sell information about you.
What the app stores on your device
Marker stores app data locally in a SQLite database on your device. This can include:
- Annotations: highlights, underlines, and notes you create
- Bookmarks and browsing history
- App preferences and settings
- Cached page content used to re-attach annotations quickly
This data exists to make the app work. It does not leave your device unless you export or share it.
How your data is used
Local data lets Marker show your annotations when you revisit a page, remember your preferences, and keep browsing history available inside the app.
Marker does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties.
Network requests
When you browse with Marker, requests go from your device to the websites you visit, the same way they do in other browsers. Marker does not proxy, log, or inspect that traffic.
Marker does not make requests to a developer-operated server during normal use.
Permissions
Marker may request permissions required by features you use, such as storage access when you export annotations. Permissions are requested when needed and used for the feature that triggered them.
Diagnostics and logs
Marker keeps local application logs to help troubleshoot issues. These logs remain on your device. Marker does not include advertising SDKs, analytics frameworks, or crash-reporting services that transmit data to third parties.
Data retention and control
Because Marker stores everything locally, you control the data. You can delete individual annotations, clear app data through your device settings, or uninstall the app to remove everything.
There is no account to delete and no server-side copy to request for removal.
Children
Marker is not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age required in your jurisdiction.
Policy updates
We may revise this policy from time to time. Material updates will be noted with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
